Depending on the age of your PC, upgrading can sometimes be a cost effective method of keeping your computer up-to-date.
Improving your PC performance ca be a simple matter. It must be noted however that some 'off the shelf PC's' offer very little options for expansion or renewal, and some may also have compatibility issues with certain hardware if you decide to upgrade your system to Windows Vista. I advise anyone with the intention upgrade to Vista to run the Windows Upgrade Advisor application from the Microsoft support website. This application scans your current system, recommends any components upgrade if neccessary and also informs you of any program compatibility issues if any.
But don't be put from upgrading. In the majority of instances most application patches are available either via microsoft update or the manufacturer's website, this also includes device drivers to enable compatibility with Windows Vista. So
always obtain advice, or better still have your computer assessed before purchasing any components on your own for upgrading.
Before any repair work is carried out on any computer, I will give an assessment of the work to be undertaken and an approximate price likely to be involved before proceeding, where possible I try to stay within my quoted price, but sometimes it is unavoidable for the price to increase from my estimate.
Please note I will not over clock PC's and I do not recommend you do so. This will considerably reduce the lifespan of your computer and may also cause instability.
